146th Pioneer Days
Life has been busy lately
with graduation coming closer and closer even though the first semester just
started. I look forward to graduating college, but I am also sad because I
would like even more time to be with so many friends. Growing up is a sad
reality of life even though I am sure we would all like to stay young forever.
I will say though that
this weekend has been one for the books due to Pioneer Days. Pioneer Days is
Kalida’s annual festival in which every age has something to do. The socializing
of a community is just amazing. Seeing and catching up with so many friends and
family just make for a great time. From Thursday to Sunday you will find almost
everyone uptown having a good time.
Pioneer Days started 146-year-ago
claiming Northwest Ohio’s Longest Festival. Thursday some of my friends that I
graduate high school with decided to go up and have a few beers and some social
burgers. Friday, we did the same thing except there was a pretty good country
music band that played that night. Saturday was a pretty relaxed day at first,
family came over for the Ohio State Buckeye game in which the Buckeyes won.
Then we went up to Pioneer again to socialize and an even better cover band
played and everyone that I graduated with was there. Now it is Sunday, went to
church and then came home to relax before the parade at 1. The nice thing was
that even though it rained all weekend long for the whole parade the rain held
off. Then the best part of Pioneer was the chicken wing challenge. Eating 12
wings with three different sauces is so delicious.
Pioneer is such a joyful
time with everyone coming back for the weekend. The theme this year was even
Pioneer Days, Most Enjoyable Time of the Year. It keeps people coming back year
after year and with all the good food and best friends you can’t ask for a
better time. Well that is all I have to say about that, until next year with
the 147th Pioneer Days.
I'm happy that school didn't take you away from your annual festival! I know that back near my home, we have little street festivals here and there but nothing to what you're describing, with the multiple cover bands and the drinking and other such festivities. I'm glad that even though the rain was nonstop, your parade did not get rained on.
ReplyDeleteYeah it was a great time, I honestly wish I could invite everyone because it is such a great time. Maybe next year you can stop by and socialize with my crazy hometown.
