Video Games Give Life
One of my favorite
hobbies, behind socializing and adventuring, is playing video games. I know a
lot of people don’t like video games and some think they are bad for gamers,
but in my mind they are a chance to escape. Some of my favorite games to play ever
since video games were a thing have been Super Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros,
Call of Duty, Halo, The Elder Scrolls, and Fallout. The reason behind this blog is because
Bethesda is releasing a brand new and long waited Fallout 76. I am super pumped
and cannot wait to play the new game.
A quote about the game
from Bethesda Studios says “Reclamation Day, 2102. Twenty-five years after the
bombs fall, you and your fellow Vault Dwellers – chosen from the nation’s best
and brightest – emerge into post-nuclear America. Play solo or band together as
you explore, quest, build and triumph against the wasteland’s greatest threats”.
It is set in the West Virginia mountains and allows players to decide what they
want to do in the wasteland of post nuclear war. You can be a thief/bandit and
only take to make yourself better. My style of play is to rebuild and help
those in need to make America a better place for everyone.
Most people see video games as a negative.
That they make kids violent or that the video games aren’t educational in any
way for the kids. In some ways yes this is true, but it does have a lot of
positives as well. It lets kids escape the world we live in and it can make
them a hero. I had a friend that gave a speech in a class who had a rough
childhood with an abusive mom and a dad that traveled for work. He put it best
that when he played video games he could be who he wanted to be. He could be
the hero that he always wanted to be while growing up. Video games have
something for everyone to with horror, action, war, puzzles, and simulations. Well
that’s all I have to say about that, a quote from my favorite character Ezio Auditore
"Don’t ever stop. Always keep going, no matter what happens and is taken
from you. Even when life is so unfair, don’t give up".
I've been pretty skeptical of this game in particular, but it'll be cool to see how it works after release. Games are another outlet and I think some have actual benefits as well.
