Retirement with Social Media
I was thinking about the
older generation the other day and how they use social media. I was wondering
what tactics with social media do people not use anymore. While doing some
research I came across this article giving me three tactics that have been/should
be retired from use.
The first being,
following the mass to gain mass followers. This I always found was a bad social
media tactic because no one wants to follow someone they don’t really know or
care about. Also known as follow for a follow is so annoying an which I usually
ignore these types of social media users.
The second tip was
automated or bot messages to those followers. When you copy and paste the same
message to a follower that asked a question or just praised the company/person then
those people feel unappreciated. People now a day like to feel things
personally. They want those people that answer or messages back with sincerity
making the feel good.
The last tip is to not
add fluff to everything. This means adding links and hashtags to everything you
do. Our generation is getting tired of hashtags when it comes to just nonsense
posts. If I see a post of a dog I don’t want to see 15 hashtags related to the
dog or other animals. The main use for hashtags and links is to add some type
of brand or event to a post. People instead abuse these tools to gain more
followers and have their post become more noticeable.
Social media like I have
been saying since the beginning can be a wonderful thing. The problem is when
people abuse tools and post things that should not be posted. People need to
learn more about social media especially with it changing almost every day.
Well that is all I have to say about that, remember to think about what you are
posting and what tools you are doing before you let the public see it.
